EBC is recruiting an experienced Food and Beverage Manager for a client operating in Eastern Uganda. The successful candidate will lead restaurant, bar, banquet, conference and room-service operations while maintaining high standards of food quality and customer service. This is a senior, hands-on hospitality position combining operational leadership, financial control, staff management, procurement and regulatory compliance. Candidates must be willing to live and work in Eastern Uganda.

Key responsibilities
Food and beverage operations
- Coordinate daily operations across all food and beverage outlets.
- Maintain consistent food presentation, quality and service standards.
- Work with the Executive Chef to develop suitable seasonal menus.
- Support the use of quality local produce from Eastern Uganda.
- Engage guests and resolve service complaints professionally.
- Promote high levels of guest satisfaction across all outlets.
Financial management and procurement
- Prepare and manage the annual food and beverage budget.
- Forecast revenue and control expenses to achieve profitability targets.
- Review financial performance and address significant variances.
- Strengthen inventory controls to reduce waste and pilferage.
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiate cost-effective contracts.
- Maintain product quality while controlling purchasing costs.
Team leadership
- Recruit, train, mentor and evaluate food and beverage employees.
- Prepare staff duty rosters for peak and off-peak periods.
- Train employees in service standards, upselling and hospitality etiquette.
- Promote a positive, inclusive and performance-focused team culture.
- Ensure staff follow the required grooming, uniform and conduct standards.
Health, safety and compliance
- Maintain high hygiene and sanitation standards in all service areas.
- Conduct regular food safety and hygiene checks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UNBS and local council requirements.
- Support compliance with recognised food safety systems, including HACCP.
- Ensure required health certificates, licences and permits remain valid.
Additional requirements
- Relocation: The successful candidate must be willing to live and work in Eastern Uganda.
- Language: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of relevant local languages will be an advantage.
- Adaptability: Applicants should be comfortable managing regional operational and logistical challenges.
- Relationship management: The role requires effective engagement with staff, guests, suppliers and the surrounding community.
