BRAC Uganda Bank Limited is recruiting a Deputy Head of Business Growth to lead the growth of its SEP portfolio. The successful candidate will develop and monitor strategies that expand the bank’s assets, liabilities, customer base, loan portfolio and savings deposits while maintaining portfolio quality and regulatory compliance.
This senior banking position is best suited to an experienced business-growth or financial-services leader with a strong understanding of lending, regional operations, deposit mobilisation, digital-channel adoption and customer experience. Applicants must have at least eight years of banking experience, including more than five years at management level.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Performance
- Develop and implement the bank’s business-growth strategy.
- Align growth plans with the bank’s mission, vision and strategic objectives.
- Coordinate periodic strategic and annual business-planning processes.
- Communicate strategies, budgets, policies and procedures to relevant teams.
- Monitor regional performance, identify gaps and coordinate corrective action.
Business and Portfolio Growth
- Drive customer recruitment and cross-selling initiatives.
- Expand the loan portfolio while maintaining acceptable portfolio quality.
- Oversee regional loan processing, underwriting, reporting and recovery activities.
- Support the development of effective lending policies and procedures.
- Gather market intelligence and monitor competitor activity.
- Lead expansion into new strategic markets and customer segments.
- Promote responsible financial services for underserved customers, particularly women in rural areas.
Savings and Digital Growth
- Develop strategies for growing customer deposits and account numbers.
- Strengthen relationship management and customer experience.
- Promote appropriate delivery channels and technological innovations.
- Drive customer adoption and usage of the bank’s digital channels.
People and Operational Management
- Set SMART performance objectives and monitor staff performance.
- Conduct performance reviews and address identified performance gaps.
- Coach and mentor staff to support professional development.
- Promote teamwork, employee motivation and BRAC’s organisational values.
- Support the implementation of new projects and the responsible use of donor funds.
Compliance and Safeguarding
- Identify and assess operational risks affecting branches within the region.
- Maintain controls that reduce financial and operational exposure.
- Monitor compliance with procedures, policies and regulatory requirements.
- Promote safeguarding standards and a safe working environment.
- Ensure reportable safeguarding incidents are handled through approved procedures.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- A relevant master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- A business-related professional certification is desirable.
Required Experience
- At least eight years of banking experience.
- More than five years of experience at management level.
- Microfinance institution experience will be an added advantage.
- A record of developing strategies, policies, systems and customer-service procedures in a financial institution.
- Knowledge of Ugandan banking regulations and statutory requirements.
