Watu Credit Uganda is inviting eligible internal candidates to apply for the position of Client Relations Officer at its Kamuli Satellite under the Jinja Branch. The officer will manage customer engagement across the asset-finance journey, including lead generation, product explanation, client assessment, KYC verification, loan onboarding and after-sales support. Role summary

The Client Relations Officer will manage end-to-end customer engagement and asset-finance onboarding. The position covers sales generation, client assessment, documentation, onboarding, customer support and post-sale service while ensuring compliance with Watu’s policies and service standards.

Key responsibilities

Lead generation and customer outreach

  • Generate leads through walk-ins, referrals and proactive outreach.
  • Follow up with prospective and existing customers.
  • Support customer-satisfaction surveys and outreach campaigns.
  • Assist with ownership-transfer and logbook follow-up activities.
  • Work toward agreed sales and onboarding targets.

Product presentation and client assessment

  • Present Watu asset-finance products to prospective customers.
  • Explain available boda, simu and other Watu products.
  • Assess customers’ financial circumstances at the initial stage.
  • Recommend products that are appropriate for customer needs.
  • Provide accurate information about product requirements and processes.

KYC and documentation

  • Conduct customer identification and KYC verification.
  • Confirm the authenticity and completeness of submitted documents.
  • Upload customer information accurately into the relevant systems.
  • Verify guarantor, referee and next-of-kin information.
  • Confirm that relevant third parties understand and consent to their roles.
  • Maintain accurate customer and asset-finance records.

Loan agreements and compliance

  • Explain loan terms and repayment schedules clearly.
  • Ensure customers understand their obligations.
  • Explain the consequences of breaching loan agreements.
  • Ensure onboarding complies with company procedures.
  • Follow contractual and regulatory requirements.

Customer support and after-sales service

  • Assist customers face-to-face and by telephone.
  • Respond to product, payment and service enquiries.
  • Educate customers about payment methods and value-added services.
  • Support repairs, returns and other after-sales processes.
  • Follow up on unresolved customer concerns.
  • Support loan closures through asset sales or settlements.

Problem resolution and app support

  • Investigate complaints and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Escalate theft, replacement, insurance, GPS and servicing issues.
  • Provide basic support for Watu App updates and login problems.
  • Assist with PIN resets and primary telephone-number changes.
  • Help customers install and access the Watu App.
  • Ensure boda and electric-vehicle customers enrol on the Watu App.

Records and reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and complaints.
  • Update information relating to loan processing and asset management.
  • Submit periodic activity and performance reports.
  • Provide feedback on customer-service processes.
  • Participate in training and continuous-learning activities.

Minimum eligibility requirements

  • At least one year of employment with Watu.
  • Clean disciplinary record with no active warning letters.
  • Strong performance record, including quality-assurance performance.
  • Reliable, punctual and professional conduct.
  • Strong customer-service orientation.
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Analytical, negotiation, persuasion and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and meet targets.
  • Knowledge of sales, customer relations and asset-finance services.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, data entry and analysis.
  • Fluency in Lusoga and Luganda.
  • Swahili or other relevant local languages will be an advantage.
  • Integrity, confidentiality and close attention to detail.
