Glovo is recruiting a Demand Planner to support its quick-commerce operations in Uganda. The successful candidate will forecast product demand, create purchase orders, monitor supplier deliveries and help maintain appropriate inventory levels across Glovo’s micro-fulfilment centres. This analytical role is suitable for a supply-chain professional who can interpret sales and inventory data, coordinate with commercial and operations teams and improve product availability while limiting waste, shortages and excess stock.

About the opportunity
Glovo’s quick-commerce business provides rapid access to groceries, retail products and other everyday items. The Demand Planner will support the micro-fulfilment-centre operation by forecasting future product requirements and placing appropriate purchase orders. Accurate planning is essential for meeting customer demand while controlling inventory and reducing food waste.
Key responsibilities
Demand forecasting
- Use historical sales data to improve forecast accuracy.
- Adjust forecasts for promotions, seasons, public holidays and special events.
- Include expected demand for newly introduced products.
- Identify demand patterns, risks and possible forecasting errors.
- Recommend corrective action based on demand and sales performance.
Supply planning and replenishment
- Plan stock replenishment for Glovo’s micro-fulfilment centres.
- Create purchase orders based on demand and inventory requirements.
- Monitor supplier deliveries and follow up on delays or shortages.
- Maintain purchasing parameters such as safety-stock levels.
- Adjust planning settings for holidays and operational changes.
- Balance product availability with efficient inventory levels.
Supplier management
- Monitor supplier fill rates, delays, no-shows and other incidents.
- Communicate performance concerns to relevant suppliers.
- Work collaboratively with suppliers on improvement plans.
- Support reliable and timely product deliveries.
- Help reduce supplier-related stock availability problems.
Data analysis and performance improvement
- Monitor and report Uganda’s supply-chain performance indicators.
- Analyse product availability and inventory levels.
- Track stock turnover, shrinkage and supplier fill rates.
- Identify operational risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop actions to reduce costs and improve supply-chain efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement across planning and replenishment processes.
Cross-functional coordination
- Work closely with category-management teams.
- Coordinate with marketing and operations colleagues.
- Gather information needed to improve demand forecasts.
- Align expected demand with available supply-chain capacity.
- Communicate emerging stock or supplier risks to relevant teams.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations or another relevant discipline.
- At least two years of relevant supply-chain experience, preferably in demand or supply planning.
- Ability to analyse and interpret operational and commercial data.
- Strong critical-thinking and practical problem-solving skills.
- Sound business judgement and a results-focused approach.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Google applications.
- Fluency in English.
