Makerere University School of Public Health is recruiting four Field Supervisors for the Scaling the Optimal Use of Multiple ACTs to Prevent Antimalarial Drug Resistance Project. The successful candidates will lead quantitative and qualitative data-collection teams in Buikwe and Busia districts and ensure that fieldwork follows the approved study protocol.
This opportunity is best suited to experienced research supervisors who have managed large or complex surveys at regional or national level. Applicants should be comfortable supervising mobile data collection, coordinating logistics, engaging district leaders, monitoring data quality and resolving operational problems encountered by field teams.
About the STOP-AMDR Project
Makerere University School of Public Health is implementing the STOP-AMDR Project in collaboration with Jhpiego, the Ministry of Health’s National Malaria Elimination Division and other stakeholders. The project will generate evidence to guide the introduction and scale-up of Multiple First-line Therapies in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise quantitative and qualitative data-collection teams.
- Attend study meetings, training sessions and pretesting activities.
- Support the training of research assistants and enumerators.
- Coordinate fieldwork with the Project Coordinator.
- Ensure that data collection follows the approved study protocol.
- Manage project materials, field schedules and operational logistics.
- Lead community entry and liaise with district and local leaders.
- Ensure that household listing and mapping are correctly completed before random sampling.
- Support the selection of health facilities and participants for provider surveys.
- Monitor data quality and conduct regular spot checks.
- Ensure field teams remain within assigned enumeration areas.
- Review completed study forms for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare regular progress reports and an end-of-assignment field report.
- Resolve field challenges and troubleshoot electronic data-collection tools.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Project Coordinator or investigators.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of a master’s degree.
- Experience leading field teams conducting large and complex surveys.
- Experience managing research activities at regional or national level.
- Experience collecting quantitative data using mobile-assisted systems.
- Experience conducting or supervising qualitative data collection.
- Ability to follow research protocols and operational guidelines reliably.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to meet strict fieldwork and reporting deadlines.
- Willingness to reside in the assigned district throughout the data-collection period.
- A valid Human Subjects Protection or Good Clinical Practice certificate.
