Job summary
Reporting to the General Manager, the Construction Manager plays a pivotal role in driving this growth, by running the construction department. The primary responsibility will be to manage and coordinate all aspects of the projects. As a Construction Manager, you will work closely with the design team, sub-contractors, craftsmen and external stakeholders to ensure that each project is completed to an exceptional quality, on time, within budget, and in compliance with acceptable green building standards.

Key responsibilities

  1. Project planning and management
  • Create project time schedules, set milestones and allocate resources effectively to ensure timely completion;
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues and implement corrective measures needed;
  • Create and maintain materials, labour and equipment schedules;
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, environmental regulations and safety standards throughout the construction process;
  • Schedule and implement samples development and approval;
  • Schedule, monitor and maintain construction equipment and tools;
  • Plan and maintain the project risk schedule.
  1. Project financial management
    • Conduct and maintain project cash flows;
    • Conduct monthly earned value analysis for all projects.
  2. Sustainable construction practices
    • Implement eco-friendly construction techniques, materials and technologies;
    • Coordinate with architects and engineers to integrate sustainable design principles into the construction process.
  3. Team leadership and coordination
    • Coordinate with and support the LW senior management team;
    • Manage and supervise construction teams, sub-contractors and vendors;
    • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively;
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes innovation and sustainability;
    • Provide guidance and support to team members, promoting their professional development;
    • Coordinate with local authorities to obtain all necessary approvals and permits;
    • Maintain a healthy relationship with the clients or their representatives.
  4. Quality control and Safety
    • Schedule and conduct tests in coordination with the design team;
    • Ensure construction activities meet quality standards and comply with codes;
    • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address construction related issues;
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimise risks and accidents on site.
  5. Tendering
    • Participate in building rates for prospective projects;
    • Create master programs and payment schedules;
    • Create pre-construction materials, equipment and labour schedules.
  6. Project completion and defects management
    • Coordinate with the project team to ensure timely snagging of works;
    • Create as-built drawings, operations and maintenance manuals;
    • Acquisition of occupation permits;
    • Conduct a regular defects management during the defects liability period.

  1. Project delivery
    • Timely completion of projects within the allocated budget;
    • Meeting or exceeding client expectations;
    • Meeting or exceeding project specifications;
    • Minimising construction delays and managing unforeseen challenges effectively.
  2. Financial management
    • Maintaining project cash flows;
    • Maintaining project earned value analysis at all times.
  3. Sustainability
    Compliance with environmental regulations and obtaining relevant certification;
    Adoption of eco-friendly construction techniques and technologies.
  4. Team management
    Efficient coordination and collaboration among construction teams and sub-contractors;
    High levels of team productivity and job satisfaction;
    Effective resolution of conflicts or issues arising within the team.
  5. Quality and safety
    Consistent adherence to quality standards and construction best practices;
    Minimal rework or defects in construction activities;
    A safe working environment with a low incidence of accidents and injuries.
  6. Client satisfaction
    Positive feedback from clients regarding project execution and outcomes;
    Client retention and repeat business based on successful project delivery;
    Building and maintaining strong client relationships.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or any other related course from a recognised university;
  • Experience in managing multiple construction projects;
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Revit, Autocad and MS Project;
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent communication skills.

Terms of Employment
The advertised role is for a one-year contract, with a probation period of six months. The position is;

  • Permanently based on one or several of our construction sites;
  • Full-time (48 hours per week);
  • 21 days annual leave;
  • Health insurance.
