The Uganda Communications Commission is recruiting a Driver to provide safe, reliable and timely transport for Commission staff, guests and official cargo. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assigned vehicle’s roadworthiness, cleanliness, security and proper use while complying with traffic laws and UCC transport procedures.
This opportunity is suitable for an experienced professional driver with at least five years of institutional driving experience. Applicants must have a valid licence for the appropriate vehicle classes, a defensive-driving certificate and the ability to maintain accurate trip, fuel and vehicle-condition records.

The Uganda Communications Commission regulates and supports the development of Uganda’s communications sector. Its mandate covers telecommunications, broadcasting, postal services, radio communications and related areas of the country’s communications industry.

Key Responsibilities
- Inspect the assigned vehicle daily and before every official journey.
- Confirm that the vehicle is roadworthy, clean and ready for use.
- Report mechanical faults and safety concerns promptly.
- Transport Commission staff, guests and cargo safely to authorised destinations.
- Follow approved schedules, traffic laws and defensive-driving requirements.
- Maintain custody of vehicle keys, fuel cards, accessories and official cargo.
- Ensure the assigned vehicle is used only for authorised official duties.
- Report accidents, damage, loss, defects and other incidents immediately.
- Support arrangements for scheduled vehicle servicing and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, trip records and fuel-usage information.
- Submit vehicle-condition and accountability reports within the required timelines.
- Assist passengers professionally while protecting confidential information.
- Remain available for approved long-distance or upcountry assignments.
- Undertake authorised assignments outside normal hours, including weekends and public holidays when necessary.
- Perform other reasonable transport and fleet-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Education and Professional Requirements
- A minimum of a UACE-level certificate.
- A valid driving licence covering the appropriate classes of vehicles.
- A certificate in defensive driving.
- A diploma in Motor Vehicle Mechanics will be an added advantage.
Required Experience
Applicants must have at least five years of professional driving experience. Experience gained in a corporate, government, regulatory, diplomatic or other institutional environment is preferred.
Candidates should demonstrate experience handling official vehicles and transporting senior officials, employees and guests.
