NSSF Uganda is recruiting a Compliance Auditor for its operations in Arua. The successful candidate will audit employer accounts, reconcile contribution records and assess employment and payroll information to establish compliance with the NSSF Act. The role also involves educating employers, negotiating arrears-payment arrangements and preparing cases for legal action where non-compliance remains unresolved. This opportunity is best suited to an experienced auditor or compliance professional with a relevant bachelor’s degree, an ACCA or CPA qualification and at least four years of related experience.
About NSSF Uganda
The National Social Security Fund is Uganda’s social-security institution for eligible private-sector employees and other participating contributors. The Fund collects contributions, maintains member records, invests funds and pays qualifying benefits in accordance with the governing law.

Key responsibilities
- Implement the branch audit plan by auditing assigned employers.
- Prepare audit-notification letters and specify the documents employers must provide.
- Organise audit entry, exit and follow-up meetings.
- Educate employers about NSSF obligations, voluntary contributions, benefits and applicable waivers.
- Analyse employer records and prepare management letters containing findings and recommendations.
- Conduct substantive testing to establish compliance with the NSSF Act.
- Discuss audit findings with employers and resolve issues arising during audits.
- Prepare audit reports and compliance recommendations.
- Analyse employer cash flows and negotiate sustainable arrears-payment plans.
- Prepare deeds of settlement and monitor employer performance against agreed terms.
- Generate transaction reference numbers for arrears payments.
- Register employees and reduce suspense arising from audit activities.
- Issue demand notes and follow up unpaid employer arrears.
- Handle whistleblower information and provide appropriate feedback.
- Prepare sufficient documentation for legal action against persistently non-compliant employers.
- Implement initiatives that improve the branch compliance rate.
- Contribute to compliance strategies aligned with departmental objectives.
Education and professional qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Management, Business, Finance, Commerce, Statistics or a related field.
- A professional accounting qualification in ACCA or CPA.
Experience required
- At least four years of experience in compliance, audit or a related field.
