We are looking for a dynamic enthusiastic and highly qualifies person to fill the position of
DFCD Business Development Advisor
Job Summary
The Business Development & Implementation Advisor primarily focuses on the
implementation, monitoring, and follow-up of existing projects and workplans. Through
DFCD, the role will coordinate with WWF Uganda teams, the regional DFCD team, and
external partners, such as FMO, Triodos, and EDFI AgriFi, to ensure effective execution of
agreed activities and technical assistance. The role will support the delivery of WWF-led
workstreams, including biodiversity, GIS, and indigenous peoples mapping, ensuring field-
level activities are implemented on time and aligned with agreed objective, while contributing
to the integration of climate and nature considerations into programmes, partnerships, and
landscape-level initiatives. This role will be 70% dedicated to
DFCD focused activities with 30% dedicated to supporting green finance activities for WWF-
Uganda.
In this regard, the Water Governance Specialist will;
DFCD Project Implementation & Monitoring
• Coordinate the implementation of DFCD-supported projects in Uganda, ensuring
activities are delivered in line with agreed workplans, timelines, and objectives
• Track progress across projects, identify delays or risks, and escalate issues to the
regional DFCD team where needed
• Maintain up-to-date project tracking tools (e.g. Monday and SharePoint) and
ensure accurate internal reporting
• Support project partners to deliver on agreed outputs and flag performance gaps
• Support preparation of internal updates and inputs for DFCD reporting and governance
processes
Technical Assistance (TA) Coordination & Delivery
• Coordinate the delivery of WWF-led technical assistance in Uganda, including
activities related to biodiversity, GIS, and indigenous peoples mapping
• Work closely with consultants, partners, and WWF teams to plan and implement TA
activities
• Support field-based execution of activities, including engagement with local
communities and landscape teams
• Track TA outputs, timelines, and budgets, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed
objectives
Stakeholder & Field Engagement
• Build and maintain a cohesive and motivated WWF UCO Water Governance team
through provision of technical backstopping, coaching, mentoring, and giving
constructive feedback in line with WWF Human Resources guidelines.
• Create opportunities for freshwater program staff to ensure they are equipped to
effectively deliver on their mandate.
• Responsible for performance management of all staff under the freshwater department
to deliver on their assignments
Green Finance & Internal Support to WWF Uganda
• Support WWF Uganda in integrating climate and nature considerations
into programmes, partnerships, and landscape initiatives
• Contribute to identifying opportunities to strengthen “greening finance” approaches
within the Uganda office
• Share DFCD learnings and support internal alignment with climate finance objectives
• Work with WWF technical leads and the resource acquisition manager to
develop project concepts and proposals in support of WWF UCO strategy.
• Participate in Country Office activities to strengthen country office program delivery
and alignment
Reporting & Coordination
• Prepare clear and timely updates for WWF Uganda, regional DFCD teams, and
donors
• Support monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) processes where required
• Contribute to internal coordination across WWF teams involved in DFCD and related
activities
• TPRs and FPRS
• Workplan and budget coordination
• Monday.com and SharePoint management
Required Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, Environmental Management,
Agriculture, or a related field.
• A master’s degree in any of the above fields will be an added advantage
• At least 8-10 years’ work experience. 3-5 years should
be in relevant field of climate/biodiversity/ecosystem finance, project
implementation, development programmes, or working with private sector actors
• Understanding of climate change adaptation, biodiversity, and nature-based
solutions, within Uganda and East Africa
• Experience in project coordination, including planning, implementation, and
monitoring of activities across multiple stakeholders
• Exposure to technical assistance delivery, including working with consultants and
supporting field-based activities
• Familiarity with GIS, mapping, or landscape-level work is an advantage
• Ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including
local communities, partners, and service providers
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage
multiple workstreams and deliver consistently
• Clear written and verbal communication skills in English
