Job Summary:
The Assistant Logistics Manager will support the planning, coordination, and management of the company’s logistics and supply chain operations. This role ensures timely and efficient movement of goods, materials, and equipment while maintaining high standards of cost-effectiveness, safety, and compliance. The Assistant Logistics Manager will work closely with the Logistics Manager to optimize processes, manage transport and warehousing, and liaise with suppliers, transporters, and internal teams.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Transport cost optimization per ton per km for timely delivery of orders
Coordinate daily vehicle deployment for deliveries after receiving orders from sales timely
Monitoring for quick turnaround of trucks for delivery by or maximum utilization of trucks and close coordination with drivers, customers, sales team for quick offloading
Inspect vehicles routinely to ensure roadworthiness and follow a preventive maintenance schedule for all company vehicles
Monitor fuel consumption per vehicle per route and maintain accurate fuel records
Ensure all vehicles have valid insurance, road licences (URA), inspection certificates, and other statutory requirements.
Check driver log sheets, trip reports, and time sheets.
Prepare weekly and monthly fleet performance reports (fuel, maintenance cost, downtime, accidents, insurance claims).
To understand, Implement and maintain all ISO systems in the company.
Perform any other duties as they may be assigned Authority
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Degree in Business Administration, Management, Transport or related field
Experience: 3 years plus
