About This Role

The Coordinator Sr, Project – Field, will provide overall leadership and management of operations in Busia District, including finance, people, sponsorship, and program management. The primary objective is to ensure program activities effectively reach and positively impact enrolled children and their families.

The Coordinator Sr Project will oversee implementation in alignment with STEP program requirements. He/She will provide supervision and technical support to staff, while coordinating with partners at both community and district levels to ensure successful delivery of the STEP program.

Required Experience and Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work and social administration, Social Sciences, Adult and Community Education and Development Studies or closely related area required.
  • A master’s degree in a closely related field is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years’ program management experience in an international NGO and in leading programs in the development contexts.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Remain alert and responsive to any Safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills that will enable Him/Her to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct Him/herself in a manner consistent with the ChildFund Safeguarding Policy.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of the STEP activities according to the approved proposal, ensuring deliverables and targets are met.
  • Manage the STEP budget ensuring timely resource utilization as per approved budget and adhering to ChildFund International budget control and management requirements.
  • Ensure continuous monitoring of the implementation of project activities to ensure quality implementation.
  • Ensure project data is captured, well documented and contribute to knowledge management.
  • Lead project coordination with relevant stakeholders and partners for successful implementation of the STEP program including participation in coordination meetings to foster partnerships.
  • Ensure timely submission of quality progress reports, and other data and information as may be required.
  • Ensure establishment of adequate program documentation and correspondence is available for monitoring and future reference.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to staff to ensure growth and delivery of service.
  • Undertake any other duties as shall be delegated by the supervisor

Other Required Competencies

  • Written and oral communication skills in English; fluency in a local language is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of Sponsorship Operations, Workflows, programming, policies, and standards.
  • Proficient in Kobo Collect, ComCare, DHIS-2, and other programming software applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership and staff supervision skills, with experience in building and maintaining high-performing teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to network and negotiate effectively with partners and government bodies.
  • Skilled in facilitation, capacity building, and training program design and delivery.
  • Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining high performance standards.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and management skills, with proven experience in team environments.
  • Clear and fast thinker, capable of defining and implementing effective action plans
