Job Details:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Hotel General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our hotel located in Kampala, Uganda. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all aspects of the hotel’s operations including guest services, staff management, budgeting, marketing, and ensuring profitability and outstanding service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management:
    Oversee daily hotel operations including front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, maintenance, and guest services.
  • Financial Oversight:
    Prepare and manage annual budgets, monitor financial performance, control costs, and ensure profitability.
  • Staff Leadership:
    Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department heads and staff. Foster a productive, professional, and customer-focused team environment.
  • Customer Service:
    Ensure exceptional guest experiences by maintaining high service standards and resolving guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Marketing & Sales:
    Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to implement effective strategies to maximize occupancy, increase revenue, and enhance the hotel’s market presence.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    Ensure the hotel complies with all local laws, health and safety regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Reporting:
    Provide regular performance reports to ownership or the board and recommend strategies for continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive experience in hotel management, with at least 3 years in a senior management role.
  • Strong understanding of hotel management software and financial systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage multicultural teams.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proven track record of managing budgets, driving revenue, and achieving operational excellence.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of the Ugandan hospitality market is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
  • Strong network within Uganda’s tourism and hospitality industry.
