Job purpose:
The Supervisor will be primarily responsible for overseeing the data collection and carrying out quality checks on the data collected.
Responsibilities:
The position holders shall be responsible for.
• Fieldwork preparation duties o Participate in the 3-days training workshop for research assistants.
• Ensure that clearance for data collection has been obtained from the appropriate authorities before the onset of the data collection process.
• Fieldwork and data collection
• Work closely with in-charges of selected health Facilities during data collection.
• Participate in training data collectors.
• Support data collectors in the identification and collection of data from eligible respondents.
• Perform study management activities based on the study protocol including getting consent and ensuring confidentiality.
• Review data collected for completeness and consistency daily.
• Ensure storage of survey data and ensure successful handover to the National consultant.
• Always keep the data and gadgets safe after field visits
• Ensure that all data captured is always kept secure.
• Synthesize and produce daily reports from data collectors
Required Qualifications:
• MB ChB; at least a dedgree in Midwifery with experience of 3 years in the public or private sector.
• Must be computer literate and able to use the ODK tools.
• Post graduate qualifications in health is an additional advantage.
• Ready to stay in an area/district allocated for 30 days uninterrupted.
• Experience in similar studies and Knowledge of EmONC
• Demonstrated capacity to effectively communicate in English both orally and in written form.
• A certificate in Research Ethics is desirable.
• Previous experience with supervision of quantitative and qualitative data collection on reproductive, maternal and newborn health with a reputable research organization.
Skills
• Familiarity with Kampala public and private health service provision/facilities is required.
• Ability to manage field teams of diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
• Computer literate
• Ability to produce concise, informative, and appropriate written documentation.
• Ability to work independently as well as an effective team player
